A Butler is the principle member of the team of staff providing services to a household. They are expected to have exceptional organisational skills, immaculate presentation, unwavering professionalism and enduring discretion. The role of the modern Butler often includes being the head waiter, chauffeur, valet and personal assistant.

A valet is a manservant to the gentleman of the house. Their duties include the maintenance of the gentleman's rooms and wardrobe, cleaning, pressing and mending of the clothes. They are also responsible for the preparation and packing of the gentleman's clothes for travelling.


You should expect a good Butler to possess the following knowledge and skills :-

Knowledge of wine, cigars and formal dining etiquettes.
 
Care of clothes, antiques and household valuables.
